An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Project Officer. The purpose of the role will be to raise awareness on work based learning and apprenticeships and support the various initiatives of the project within the scope of the Leeds and surrounding area. To build relationships within the community both individuals and businesses and work closely with the members of the Asian/BME community in the Leeds area. Build relations with key stakeholders, business and community partners and organisations, business support organisations, other project partners and other relevant public sector bodies. To communicate and raise awareness to youth and engage the parents of the Asian community and market importance of work based learning and apprenticeships thorough Newsletter, Website content management and electronic news distribution, events and seminar delivery, community group interactions and event organisation and participation. To take enquiries and update information and sign post to other partners organisations. To work with role models and members of the business community in various programmes. To provide admin support to the enterprise manager. Generate leads and increase numbers to attend awareness events and seminars in line with the project delivery. To build a database of interested youth in work based learning and engaging with the individuals within the BME community. To work with the board in developing a directory of mentors. Assist with delivery of events, working with partners and sponsors. You must be of apprentice/graduate calibre. Ideally with a knowledge of the Asian language. A good knowledge and understanding of the ethnic population in the region and a firm understanding of the issues of Asian parents perceptions on work based learning and apprenticeships would be an added advantage. Good links with voluntary sectors, community organisations. Good IT, organisational and communication skills are essential.
