My client is currently looking for an experienced Production Planning Engineer with a heavy engineering or steel making background, to join a successful team. The role is available due to my client securing numerous long term projects, and a strong pipeline of incoming business.
You will be responsible for working alongside the shop floor and production control office, planning new work ensuring they have the right capacity and machine and component availability to fulfil customer needs. You will ensure that jobs are planned correctly to suit production requirements, also working closely with production engineers to look at methods of production, preparing manufacturing documentation from customer specifications and contract documentation. This may include working from tenders, breaking down individual components, working out timescales, production methods, what machinery is required etc.
Essential
You will have a background in either or preferably both steel making, forging or casting or at least medium to heavy engineering, from a mechanical engineering and ideally one off component background or small batch environment. You will also have experience in production planning or estimating or time study, and some supervisory skills to control a busy manufacturing unit.
