My client is a leading food manufacturer and part of one the the largest food groups operating in the UK. Since recently being integrated into this group, the Bradford site has undergone some wholesale changes including the aim to turn it into a major transport hub for distribution throughout the group. They are currently implementing automated picking systems and committing much investment in making these changes happen.
This is a new role, reporting to the Area Distribution Manager and responsible for managing, developing and leading the logistics operations team in the delivery of an optimally efficient logistics function in line with business requirements, ensuring on time in full deliveries with minimal waste.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
*To manage, develop and lead their team.
*To develop an efficient logistics operation in line with the site plan and key business performance indicators.
*Comply with company and legal standards (safety, hygiene, and environment).
*Contribute to the development and implementation of the site strategy and plans in line with supply chain strategy.
*Lead and develop continuous improvement strategy in the team's delivery of quality, value, safety, hygiene, environment and customer service.
*Ensure total compliance to all standard procedures and systems.
People:
*Line manage a team of shift-based logistics operatives (organise, motivate, communicate, set objectives, review performance, etc).
*Demonstrate visible leadership for the team.
*Develop the team to ensure a culture of continuous improvements becomes commonplace.
*Work with the FLMs to ensure a culture of continuous improvement becomes commonplace.
Functional / Operational Excellence:
*Ensure total logistics compliance with all applicable corporate and legal standards (personal safety, food safety, quality, hygiene and environment).
*Ensure that customers receive their deliveries within the agreed time window and service level agreements.
*Ensure the delivery of the KPIs to achieve the business plan (financial, quality, customer service).
*Ensure a commitment to a continuous improvement to make year on year improvements versus plans and targets.
Team:
*Make an active and positive contribution to the site Logistics and management teams.
*The ability to cover for the Logistics manager in their absence.
*Work with other managers on site to ensure shared responsibility for delivering all KPIs and targets.
*Ensure continuous improvement and engagement are part of the site plans.
*Ensure regular communications with site trade union representatives to encourage a collaborative and positive working relationship.
The person:
*Entry level business requirements
*Certificate in Logistics and Transport
*C.P.C. desirable
*Relevant industry experience including driver and vehicle legislation
*Leadership and people management skills
*IT literate
*I.O.S.H./ N.E.B.O.S.H.
*Exceptional industry supply chain experience will be considered in lieu of qualifications
*Experience of working in a Trade Union environment
