| The Company The recruiter is a FTSE 100 company and is the UK’s largest producer of electricity and the lowest carbon emitter of the major UK electricity generators. With a dedicated workforce of about 6,000 skilled professionals, they produce around one-sixth of the nation's electricity. valuing our people as individuals, achieving more as a team The Environment You will be working in a coal fired powerstation. The site comprises four 500 MW coal-fired units. Each unit consists of a single boiler and a single shaft steam turbine. Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) equipment at two of the station’s four units has already enabled them to comply with the demands of the Large Combustion Plant Directive that comes into effect from January 2008. This FGD technology reduces emissions of sulphur dioxide by around 90%. The Role Managing & assessing engineering risk & implementation of maintenance strategies Improving availability & reliability through control of planned & unplanned losses Providing technical & safety guidance & support to the maintenance teams Management of generator overhaul & repairs Transformer overhaul & repairs & switchgear maintenance Management & specification of contracts, QA & spares Plant inspections & fault diagnosis, ensuring work is carried out to the appropriate standards Liaison with suppliers, manufacturers & other business units Develop & manage budgets Essential attributes High motivation and drive to assess problems and put in place solutions logically and effectively Experience in engineering and maintenance of large power generation plant or equivalent industrial processes such as mining, petrochemical, heavy industry, ideally PowerStation’s An ability to work as part of a team to deliver plant improvements and plant outages Capable of managing and prioritising a high work load Proven ability to deliver jobs to time, cost and quality Candidates should have electrical engineering or relevant qualifications Benefits: The terms and conditions of employment will be Personal Contract with salary commensurate to the knowledge and experience of the successful applicant.
