THE COMPANY
Our client is a leading specialist engineering company based in Leeds. They are part of a very successful worldwide group, working in the medium to heavy engineering sector.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for health and safety within the company, and co-ordinating/managing training and quality requirements.
Full training in the company’s products and business activities will be given.

• Ensure compliance with all current and future health and safety legislation.
• Conduct Coshh assessments.
• Carry out health monitoring of employees and maintain all records in an appropriate manner.
• Conduct risk assessments in conjunction with departmental managers and supervisors in accordance with pertinent legislation.
• Compile and maintain the company’s technical and health and safety data sheets.
• Maintain and update the company’s health and safety policy.
• Monitor and improve the company’s health and safety performance.
• Monitor and assess the safety performance of all staff
• Manage, co-ordinate and assist the company first aiders.
• Manage, maintain and audit the company’s procedures and quality systems.
• Assess the training requirements of all personnel.
• Maintain all employee training records
• Deliver training in conjunction with the Technical Services Engineer and ensure this is delivered in a timely manner.
• Promote a practically based safety culture within the company.

Additional training will be given where there is a clear business need.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• You must have a positive, confident manner and be able to communicate well at all levels.
• You will have relevant health and safety experience including a Nebosh qualification to diploma level.
• The ideal candidate will have a firm knowledge of industrial chemicals, preferably with appropriate experience in the sector.
• You must have excellent computer skills.
• You must be practical, logical, methodical and diligent.
