Job Description

Large corporate business based near Guiseley, in Leeds are looking for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their busy accounts team.

This is a varied Accounts Payable role working in a really friendly and welcoming team.

We are looking for someone with previous purchase ledger experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a non exhaustive list of principal duties of the Purchase Ledger Clerk. The post holder will be expected to complete any other duties commensurate with the post reasonably asked of him/her.

  • To develop and implement robust protocols to ensure good accounts practice and to support continuity in times of absence.

  • To develop and maintain accurate filing systems, including electronic systems, further growth of filing systems and initiating new systems where appropriate.
  • Be aware of key indicators and service level agreements within the department.
  • Maintain and update the purchase ledger of new suppliers and amendments.
  • Ensure the correct treatment of VAT.
  • Scanning and e-mailing invoices to obtain correct authorisation for payment.
  • Payment of suppliers in accordance with company payment terms.
  • Complete the monthly payment run and other payments necessary.
  • Statement reconciliations.
  • Review aged creditors reports.
  • Adopt safe systems of work, paying due diligence towards colleagues, customers and members of the public at all times.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to the HR Manager and onsite First Aider.
  • Manage complaints escalating to the relevant Key Account Managers and/or Finance Director as appropriate or necessary to ensure a satisfactory conclusion for all parties.
  • Behave in a courteous and professional manner towards colleagues, customers and the general public.
  • Participate in training/coaching sessions and attend meetings when required.
  • Carry out any reasonable instruction.
