Youth Workers in Training Ref: 9389
£14,409 - £16,080 (pro rata for part time employees)
Various locations across the city ; 9,12,16 & 18 hour posts available (permanent).
Opportunities exist in various ward locations across the city for Youth Workers / Youth Workers in Training. The Youth Service is a professional service and therefore will aim to recruit to the Youth Worker posts in the first instance. However, there may also be opportunities at Youth Worker in Training level.
Youth Workers will have the ability to develop and deliver high quality youth work programmes which create opportunities for young people to engage in positive and enjoyable activities. Good communication skills, empathy with young people and enthusiasm are essential to the post.
In order to be eligible to apply for the Youth Worker post, you must be qualified to NVQ/VRQ Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work or vocational or JNC endorsed recognised professional qualification.
If you are not qualified to this level, you are only able to apply for the Youth Workers in Training post.
Those applying for the Youth Worker in Training post must have qualifications to level 2 NVQ/VRQ e.g. 4-5 A to C’s GCSE’s or equivalent.
Successful applicants will be given full training and support to help them develop the knowledge, skills and experience to progress to Youth Worker.
Please do not apply if you don’t have the appropriate qualifications as you will not be shortlisted.
Successful candidates should expect to be working up to eight evenings per fortnight and weekends and will be subject to a probationary period.
An Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure check will be carried out on the preferred candidate.
