Temporary Web Editors for immediate starts based in Leeds city centre.
Experience:
You could be an experienced editor or journalist with some experience of Web Editing
A marketing/PR background is not suitable
The content you will be working on will be govt./local govt. etc.
The work is a very large rewrite/restructure of an existing intranet site approx 9000 pages.
Duties:
Emphasis is very much on analysis of the intranet site and its sections, determining structure and editorial of the existing pages not research interview and new write. There will be no requirement for marketing speak but rather plain English aimed at different persona.
Work with approximately 9,000 pages from a current intranet site. The material is predominately written by the staff for the staff and therefore the content is very much of a technical, HR or political nature
There will be little requirement to write new pages for the site but rather you will be reworking existing technical content and landing pages
The editor must be capable of seeing the ‘bigger picture’. Each web page is linked in many ways and cannot be written as a stand alone page without reference to the rest of the section
The web editor must be capable of quickly understanding the technical content.
Analyze individual sections of the intranet site (each section containing 100 - 1000 pages with 100’s of links across the site) to determine:
*if the pages are relevant for that section
*if the pages are not relevant – to which section do they belong
*the correct structure of the complete sections
*the pages that need to be rewritten, edited for content, edited for tone and style, working to a comprehensive style guide.
The emphasis is as much on understanding how the section will work and how all the documents will fit into the section as editorial/rewrite
You must be Capable of working on your own but as part of a team – the pages must all blend in.
Accuracy must be 100%. There will not be an editor or proofreader to check the work. The work will go direct to the client for approval.
Various projects with no end date as yet, you must be available on a temporary basis.
