Celsian Education (agy) are currently seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Art Teacher to join a mixed comprehensive Kirklees school. The post is to start with immediate effect and its duration is ongoing.
The school came out of special measures over 2 years ago and since has seen a rapid improvement in pupils grades, behaviour & overall morale.
You will inherit a full time Art timetable consisting of mixed ability sets of KS3, KS4 and KS5 and will include fine art & graphics. You will take full responsibility for all planning, preparation and marking and may also be required to assist with various extra curricula activities.
The art department are well run and well resourced within school. You will receive the support required from your peers to integrate quickly & effectively into the school.
You will adopt the schools ‘zero tolerance’ policy but still MUST be able to cope effectively with challenging behaviour.
It is essential that you are an excellent classroom practitioner - you must be able to teach across the full ability range. You must posses an enthusiasm for teaching art which can be shared with your pupils. You must be able to lead by example, and keen to work in a context where children genuinely need your support and skills.
You will be confident, creative & have the ability to drive all students to reach their full potential. You will hold QTS (or UK NARIC equivalent), have experience of teaching art within a UK secondary school and have a full understanding of the national curriculum.
The school is conveniently based close to major road and rail links. It is accessible from Kirklees as well as parts of Wakefield and Barnsley.
